Top 7 Best Mandoline Slicers Review
1. Best Overall – OXO 11194500 Good Grips Chef’s Mandoline Slicer 2.0
The blade is removable
Creates up to 21 different cuts
A wavy blade can create waffle and crinkle-cut fries
Large capacity perfect for big meals
It takes a few minutes to get the hang of the speed needed
It’s not as easy to store
- Style: Japanese Countertop
- Material: stainless steel blade
- Dimensions: 3.8 x 17.6 x 7.1 inches
- Weight: 3.4 pounds
Our pick for the best mandoline slicer is the OXO Good Grips chef’s mandoline slicer. This simple to use, and high performing mandoline slicer made easy work of just about everything we threw at it.
The very sharp, Japanese blade makes slicing through everything from tomatoes to carrots, quick and easy. We were in fact, surprised at how effective this blade is, it is quite sharp, so be careful when you are moving this one around or cleaning it.
The OXO mandoline slicer has a simple to use blade thickness adjustment. Simply turn the knob on the side of the slicer and you can slice thick slices for sandwiches or perfect thin slices for potato chips. The blade can be turned around to cut wavy cut or waffle cut. Julienne and French fry cuts are accomplished by turning the thickness dial all the way to the right, exposing additional blades. This ability to change the type of cut, without having a bunch of extra pieces is really a great feature of this mandline slicer.
The spring loaded vegetable grip is probably the least great thing about this mandoline slicer. It should in theory allow you to safely slice veggies to a very small nub, and it does, but the effort necessary to get your veggies on the grip is a bit much.
The spring loaded holder allows you to cut down to the very end of your veggies, but it’s not as easy to load as it seems like it should be. We do like that the food grip stores on the underside of the slicer, so you don’t have to worry about losing it.
OXO does make this mandoline slicer in black and white, so you can pick the color option that you like the best for your kitchen.
All in all, we really like this mandoline slicer. And, for the money it’s a great addition to your kitchen. Yes, the food grip is a bit awkward to use, but it isn’t awkward enough to dislike this slicer.

Börner of Germany, makes our runner up mandoline slicer. This is a hand held mandoline slicer which might not be ideal for some users, but we like the V-shaped blades, that are exceptionally sharp, making quick work of all sorts of fruits and veggies.
Each V-shaped slicer features the same high quality cutting blade that all Börner products are known for. Easily switch between the straight slicing blade to the crinkle cut or julienne blades. The extra blades all have a safety holder which allows you to store them without the safety concerns.
The slicer also adjusts easily to change the thickness of slices. This mandoline slicer also comes with a food holder, so you can slice to the bottom of your food, without getting your fingers close to the blade
This slicer comes with a bowl for catching slices, and a 6-in-one peeler, giving you everything you need to manage your fruits and veggies, in one package. The compact size of this slicer makes it easy to store, and the blade cover keeps all of the blades safely covered when you’re not using the slicer.
One thing we didn’t love about this slicer is that if you aren’t slicing into the bowl, you’ll have to hold up the slicer with one hand. This is challenging at first, but it does get easier.

The stainless steel blade on this slicer is quite sharp, so slicing even soft tomatoes is easy. The three blade settings allow you to create slices of varying thickness. The soft grip hand guard keeps your fingers safely away from the blade while allowing you to slice to the very end of any fruit or vegetable.

It’s hard to go wrong with the Mueller V-Pro mandoline slicer. This great kitchen tool is our pick for the best large size slicer. There’s very little that you can’t do with this mandoline slicer. Not only does it make slicing vegetables, in a range of thicknesses, quick and simple, but the five other blades allow you to shred, wavy cut, julienne, and grate vegetables, cheese and fruits.

You don’t have to worry about accidentally cutting yourself pulling this from the cabinet. Also the food holder allows you to slice clear to the end of most fruits and veggies, without ever exposing your fingers to the blade.
The ABS plastic construction and stainless steel blades make this a long-lasting and durable mandoline slicer. And the parts are dishwasher safe.
5. Best Combo – Benriner Mandoline Super Slicer

The non-skid rubber base stabilizes slicer during use
The safety guard is not great
It can be tricky at first- wear gloves

Benriner’s Mandoline slicers have long been known for their quality and simple operation. There’s nothing complicated about the product you get from Benriner. These mandoline slicers will make quick work of fruits and veggies, and create consistent sized slices, that will make your guests think you’ve invested in a restaurant style appliance.
This mandoline slicer from Brenriner features four different blades that are easy to remove and replace, and a simple to use knob that adjusts the thickness of the cuts. The four blades do everything from thin slices to julienne, and can even make carrot and zucchini noodles.
The rubber base allows you to safely set the slicer on a plate or cutting board, or clip on to the top of a bowl, so you don’t have to transfer your food. The smaller sized hand guard or food holder, allows you to slice smaller fruits and veggies like strawberries or radishes, without endangering your fingers.
The BPA free, plastic construction is durable, and long lasting. All the blades are removable for easy cleaning, and the whole assembly is top-rack dishwasher safe.
Our one complaint, you have to be careful when changing the blades. They don’t have a guard or plastic plate to hold on to. Take your time and be aware when you’re changing the blades on this mandoline slicer.

- Weight: 2.09 pounds
Our pick for the best value mandoline slicer is the Gramercy Kitchen Co. Mandoline Food Slicer. This is a no-fuss, no-frills mandoline slicer, but you would never know the difference.
Despite the affordable price, this simple slicer does a ton of work, and makes slicing and julienne cutting a breeze. There are no replaceable blades with the Gamercy Kitchen Co. slicer.
One knob adjusts the thickness of slices and converts the slicer to a julienne cutter. You’ll easily get the perfect cut, no matter the vegetable from this all in one slicer.
This is the first all stainless steel slicer we’ve reviewed, and we like the clean look and compact design. This slicer folds up for easy storage, and the simple blade cover protects your fingers when the slicer is in storage. This slicer doesn’t have the same amount of variability or versatility as some other mandoline slicers, but if you’re looking for something simple, well made, easy to use, and at a reasonable price, this is a great option for you.
7. Best Heavy Duty – Gourmia GMS9105 Adjustable Stainless Steel Mandoline

This is another simple, yet quality mandoline slicer. The Gourmia stainless steel mandoline looks and feels a lot like the Gramercy Kitchen mandoline, but it definitely is much more. Despite the compact design, this mandoline slicer can do much more than just slice vegetables.
Use the professional grade, stainless steel blades to cut easily through fruits, vegetables, cheese and even meats. Make the perfect charcuterie plate with this mandoline cutter.
We like the simple design with no extra blades to fumble with. Change from slicing to julienne to shredding with just a turn of the knob. The knob also allows you to easily adjust the thickness of your slices. The included food guard keeps your fingers away from the blades, and the easy to install blade guard keeps you safe when the unit is in storage.
The food guard is dishwasher safe, but don’t toss this slicer in the dishwasher. All you need to do for clean-up is wipe down with a washcloth. When you’re done, fold up the legs and the compact design slides into any space in your kitchen cabinet.
A mandoline slicer is really a great tool for most kitchens. Today’s slicers are safe, and shouldn’t instill visions of emergency room visits or bloody veggies. Picking the right mandoline slicer should be a balance between safety and efficiency.
Our favorite mandoline slicer is the OXO 11194500 Good Grips Chef’s Mandoline Slicer 2.0. It combines lightweight construction, sturdy legs and safety features that don’t limit the efficiency of slicing. It makes the most tedious of kitchen tasks, a breeze, and the best part of this mandoline slicer, is that you’ll never have to think of a mandoline slicer as a scary tool, ever again.
How to Choose the Best Mandoline Slicer
Using a mandolin slicer is easy, but selecting the right one can be a daunting task. They come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and with a variety of different features. To help minimize the confusion, we’ve created this list of features that you’ll want to consider before you buy a mandoline slicer.
You’re going to notice when you’re shopping that mandoline slicers come in a couple of different body materials. You’ve got plastic or metal. Metal mandoline slicers are generally made from aluminum or stainless steel. Either is fine, and both will go easily in the dishwasher.
These are a bit more durable, and can handle a bit of abuse. The other body material is plastic. Plastic is lightweight and also easy to clean in the dishwasher. We don’t have a preference, so pick the one that you like the best.
Ease of Use
This is kind of important, and it really has a lot to do with the blade of your mandoline slicer. Look for slicers that have stainless steel, self-sharpening blades.
This will reduce the amount of time it takes you to work through even tough foods like potatoes, and will make quick, clean work of delicate foods like tomatoes.
Fixed vs. Variable Thickness
Our preference is a slicer that can be adjusted to a variety of slicing thicknesses. This allows you to make thick slices of veggies for salads or sandwiches or thin slices for garnishes or crispy fried snacks.
Some mandoline slicers come with interchangeable blades that provide the difference in slicing, others use an adjustment knob. Pick the option that you are most comfortable using or that saves you the most time.
A couple of things to note about mandoline slicer blades. First, look for mandoline slicers that have a stainless steel blade. They will resist rusting and are really the most versatile.
Second, consider mandoline slicers that allow you to switch between different cutting options. Maybe you like potato chips and want to make wavy cut carrots for a salad.
Having extra blade attachments will increase the versatility of your mandoline slicer. Do keep in mind though, that the more options your mandoline slicer has, the more room you’ll need to store all the parts.
Ease of clean
Some mandoline slicers will require you to wash the blades by hand. This isn’t unusual, especially if you are investing in a higher end slicer. Like a good set of knives, washing by hand will keep your blades sharp for longer, and reduce the wear and tear on the blade.
However, you can find some great products that have sharp blades that can safely be put in the dishwasher. If you want both ease of use and easy clean up, look for this option in the mandoline slicer you select.
We only looked at models that came with hand guards. Since safety concerns are really what keeps many people from investing in a mandoline slicer, we thought it was important to make this a priority.
Look for hand slicers that can take a veggie all the way down to the tiniest of nubs. This means less waste in your kitchen. Also consider how the food is attached to the hand guard, and how easy the hand guard is for you to handle.
