Grill rotisseries are one of those accessories that sound hard to use, but are actually a great addition to your grill. Rotisseries allow you to cook foods that might otherwise be a challenge on your grill grates. They also allow you to slow cook meats like whole chickens and even roasts, without using your crock pot or smoker.
The benefits of rotisserie cooking? Well, this age-old method of cooking allows your meats to baste in their own juices. This makes your meats more flavorful, and moist. You really can’t ask for a better way to cook.
Many grills already come with a rotisserie attachment. If you got lucky and bought a grill with this added accessory, then you are ready to roll. However, if you are ready to enjoy the benefits of rotisserie cooking, and your grill didn’t come with the attachment, you’ll need to buy it as an add-on.
Best Grill Rotisserie Kits and Attachments (2021 Reviews)
Rotisserie attachments are really quite simple, but they can add so much to the functionality of your grill. In this article, we’ll take a look at the 9 best rotisserie attachments for your grill, so that you don’t have to work too hard to find the best product for your grill.
1. Kamado Joe JoeTisserie Rotisserie System For Classic 18-Inch Grills
This is another brand specific rotisserie system. Made for the Kamado Joe Classic grill, the JoeTisserie is a great addition to your Kamado Joe grill. This particular rotisserie attachment is made for their classic 18” grill, though they do have rotisserie add-ons for their other grill products as well. Some online customer reviews that we looked at also indicated that this rotisserie may also work on the Green Egg smoker, but we can’t confirm that.
The JoeTisserie attachment boasts a powerful 120V motor that plugs into your standard wall outlets. This extra power means that you can throw up to 50 pounds of meat onto the JoeTisserie. This is a great added attachment if you’re planning on entertaining and a delicious, rotisserie style meat is your centerpiece.
The spit and forks are made from heavy duty, and durable 304 stainless steel. They can easily handle the heat of your grill. The spit is also well balanced, and tucks nicely into the ring, so no counter balance is necessary with this rotisserie attachment. Though it seems small, the forks on this rotisserie are adjustable, so you can easily add larger cuts of meat, without a problem.
All of the stainless steel parts are dishwasher safe, so when you’re done cooking, cleanup is simple. Our only complaint, this kit is a bit on the pricey side. However, if you are using a Kamado Joe Classic, this is really your best option for rotisserie cooking. Kamado Joe products, including this rotisserie kit all come with a great warranty to protect against manufacturing defects. The JoeTissery comes with a one year limited warranty.
2. GrillPro 39-Inch Universal Heavy-Duty Rotisserie Kit
If you don’t want to do a ton of research to find the rotisserie kit that goes with your specific grill, then a universal kit is your best option. The GrillPro universal rotisserie kit is a great option, for just about every standard grill.
The 33.5” stainless steel spit fits the length of most standard grills. It does come with a 6-inch extension rod, so it is possible to stretch this spit across a larger 39-inch grill. This kit comes with it’s own counterbalance, so you can add larger cuts of meat, without worrying about uneven turning or the spit not sitting level. The spit and forks are stainless steel and dishwasher safe, so not only is this universal rotisserie kit easy to use, but it’s not a ton of work to clean.
The GrillPro has a 120V electric motor, which should be more than sufficient to handle larger cuts of meat. However, the weight limit of this rotisserie attachment is limited to 20 pounds. The motor could probably do more, but balance is the limiting factor with this rotisserie attachment. 20 pounds is about the best you can do on this rotisserie without balance issues. It comes with a counter balance, but this only helps if it’s attached properly. Our biggest complaint with this kit, the counter balance isn’t that easy to use.
One of our favorite features of this rotisserie attachment is the price. For less than $60, you get a really good product with the GrillPro Universal Rotisserie kit. It’s easy to use, fairly well built and, if installed correctly, does a great job of cooking evenly.
3. Weber 2290 Rotisserie Kit For 22-Inch Charcoal Kettle Grills
If you would rather use a charcoal grill, than gas, we get it. Charcoal really gives your foods a little something extra. No, we don’t mean funky fuel tastes, but rather, that cooked over a real fire taste. If you like cooking over charcoal, then rotisserie cooking is a perfect way to make the most of your grill. The consistent heat of well-prepared charcoal briquettes is perfect for rotisserie cooking.
If you want to add a rotisserie kit to your charcoal, kettle grill, the Weber 2290 is a great option. It fits perfectly on all Weber 22 inch kettle grills, and is super easy to use.
We like that this rotisserie attachment comes with a ring to keep food above the coals. This does two things, keeps the smoky taste to a minimum and allows for a more slow, even mode of cooking. If you don’t have a 22 inch Weber kettle grill, but another brand, this attachment may work for your charcoal grill as well. We didn’t try, but some user reviews suggest it is possible. The ring allows you to cook larger diameter foods like a turkey or ribs. It also has a nice connection point for the motor, and a sufficiently large notch for the spit end.
The Weber does give you the option to purchase extra spits and spit forks, which is a great idea, especially if you want to cook two different meats, back to back on your grill. You can let the first cool on the spit, while the other cooks.
4. Napoleon 33-Inch Heavy-Duty Rotisserie Kit For Rogue Gas Grills
As far as accessories for some of your higher end natural gas grills, we offer the Napoleon 33 inch rotisserie for their line of Rogue gas grills. This heavy duty rotisserie kit will attach perfectly to your Rogue grill.
The 120 volt motor is durable enough to manage up to 26 pounds of meat. The perfect size for a large turkey or a nice roast for a crowd of friends. The heavy duty stainless steel spit comes with two spit forks, and a coordinating counter weight, so that you can easily balance any size or shape of meat you desire.
The spit and forks are constructed of stainless steel, so you can feel comfortable tossing them in the dishwasher to clean up. The motor housing is made from heat resistant materials, so you don’t have to worry about it getting too hot while you’re cooking.
Our largest complaint about this rotisserie kit is the price. It is a bit more on the high price end. However, if you want a rotisserie kit that will work perfectly with your Napoleon Rogue grill, the price may be worth it. We didn’t find anything about this rotisserie kit that would stand it apart from others, so the higher price is for the name

5. GrillPro Deluxe Non-Stick Flat Spit Basket
The GrillPro non-stick flat spit basket is the perfect add on for your rotisserie kit. Not all of your favorite foods will slide easily on to your spit. The spit is made for foods like full chickens, thick ribs and roasts. For thinner cuts of meat, vegetables and seafood, a basket is the perfect way to utilize your rotisserie attachment, without having to figure out how to make it work.
The GrillPro basket is made from porcelain coated steel. This means it’s non-stick and won’t leave your food half in the basket. It also means that cleaning up is easy. Simply toss the basket in the dishwasher and you’re done. The porcelain coating is made to withstand higher heat, so you don’t have to worry about it breaking down or falling apart over time. We do like the adjustable height on this basket. It allows you to cook steaks, veggies or even thin fillets of fish or shrimp. Anything that you can’t put on the spit, you can throw in the basket.
While this basket is a universal basket, and should work on most spits, make sure that it is the right size before you buy. This basket coordinates well with most 3/8 inch spits. Another thing to remember, you may need to use counter weights with your basket, to ensure that it turns smoothly. Read the instructions and test it out before you put food over the fire, so you don’t have to worry about burning your food.
6. Fire Magic Stainless Steel Flat Rotisserie Basket
This item is from Fire Magic. This simple basket is reasonably priced and works well when it comes to cooking a variety of foods that just won’t go on your spit.
This basket is pretty simple. There are no bells or whistles, but it works great for a variety of foods. We liked cooking chicken breasts, steaks and larger cuts of fish in this basket. The adjustable lid allows the height of the basket to vary between 2 and 3 inches. If you are cooking thinner foods like shrimp or some fish fillets, this basket may be a bit of a challenge. We found that the lowest adjustment just wasn’t narrow enough to keep veggies and shrimp from moving around.
This basket is made to fit on standard 5/8 inch spits. This is a bit larger than some other baskets, so make sure that you confirm that this is the right size for your spit, before you buy. Also, make sure that you have your counter weights available when you’re using this basket. Like with other baskets, if it is unevenly filled, you may notice a bit of uneven turning, and in turn uneven cooking of your foods.
This is not a non-stick grill basket, so you may find that some foods will stick to the grate. To eliminate this, use a bit of cooking spray first. Also, you may need to do a bit of scrubbing before you put this basket in the dishwasher.
7. Weber Electric Rotisserie for Genesis II 2 and 3 Burner Gas Grill
This product is designed specifically for the Weber Genesis II and II LX series grills. Honestly, we think that if you can find a rotisserie attachment that coordinates with your particular grill, that’s the best way to go. You don’t have to worry about the attachment not fitting quite right.
This rotisserie attachment allows you to roast meats up to 20 pounds, so feel free to toss on a good sized roast, a couple of chickens or even a small turkey. The 9 watt electric motor on this rotisserie attachment has plenty of power to slowly turn that 20 pounds of meat with ease. The limitation to this rotisserie attachment is the diameter of the food. You are limited to foods that are no larger than 8” in diameter.
It’s important to note that with this rotisserie system, you’ll remove the grate and insert a foil pan under the spit. This will keep juices from dripping directly onto the flames, which eliminates flare-ups that can burn your foods.
The spit comes in two parts that you need to assemble in order for it to completely span the length of the grill. This is pretty simple. The forks can be adjusted to a variety of lengths, allowing you to cook 2 or 3 chickens at once.
When you’re done cooking, the spit and forks can go in the dishwasher. This is a feature that is not available on some rotisserie attachments. We like the quick clean up. The owner’s manual that comes with this kit, also has helpful instructions to increase your cooking success.
8. OneGrill 6PS1007 Stainless Universal Complete Grill Rotisserie Kit
f you are looking for a universal grill rotisserie kit that holds more and allows you to make enough food for a party, then the OneGrill heavy duty rotisserie kit is where you want to go. This heavy duty, stainless steel rotisserie kit fits most grills up to 33 inches long. It does come with an extender, just in case you need a little more length for your particular grill.
The 13 watt motor of this rotisserie kit is plenty powerful for small, everyday cooking tasks, but really shines when you’re cooking a bunch of meat. This rotisserie kit can handle up to 50 pounds of meat, which is awesome for entertaining. Your only limitation to this rotisserie kit is the diameter of the foods you put on the spit. Larger diameter foods like turkey may pass too close to the flame, and get too hot. You can reduce heat and flare-up issues if you use a foil pan between the heat source and your foods.
We really like the counter weight system on this rotisserie kit. It allows for fine adjustments, which is super handy, and really adds to your ability to have a successful rotisserie experience. This is a nice looking rotisserie kit as well, the stainless steel housing for the motor is just a bit classier than the plastic housing on other kits. Be careful though, it can get hot. Make sure you let the grill cool before removing the motor.
For the price, you can’t go wrong with the OneGrill rotisserie kit. It does a good job, and gives you the ability to cook more food, with minimal extra work.
9. Napoleon Rotisserie Grill Basket
If you’re looking for a healthier way to cook some of your favorite meals and side dishes, then this is the basket for you.
The Napoleon Rotisserie basket accessory is definitely unique. The round shape sets it apart from other rotisserie baskets on the market, and honestly, allows you to use your grill for foods that you might not have considered.
This basket is great for cooking things like roasted veggies or making crisp veggies for stir fry, without the oil. Another fan favorite is French fries. This basket will allow you to cook perfect French fries without turning on your oven or using an oil fryer. Keeping your house cool in the summer and making your French fries healthier! This is also a great way to cook wings, they won’t stick to your grill or end up burnt.
Don’t have a Napoleon grill? Don’t worry, they’ve made this basket so that it will fit on most standard size rotisserie spits. Make sure you read the specifications before you buy, to make sure it will work on your rotisserie. This basket is made from restaurant grade stainless steel, so it is made to last. And the basket can go in the dishwasher, so clean up is pretty simple. We did find however that some foods get stuck in the mesh and if you add a sauce to your wings or stir fry veggies, it can make clean up a little more challenging. Use a dish brush or gentle scrubbing sponge for best results.
Your grill really can be a multi-purpose cooking tool. Sure it can make delicious steaks and burgers, and if you get creative, you can even cook a whole chicken. However, with a rotisserie attachment, you can take your grilling skills to the next level. Rotisserie cooking has been used for thousands of years to make delicious, moist, slow cooked meats. This method of cooking keeps juices in the meat for a more flavorful result.
Almost all grills, both gas and charcoal have the ability to add a rotisserie attachment. You simply have to decide whether you want to spend a little more for the brand name that matches your grill or if you want to go with one of the great universal products on the market.
And, if you really want to impress your guests at your next barbeque, make sure you add the rotisserie basket to your grill, for amazing roasted veggies, oil-free French fries, and perfectly cooked wings.
Rotisserie cooking has come a long way from open pits in the ground, and so have the options for grill rotisserie kits. Our list of the best 9 rotisserie kits and accessories, features our favorite products on the market today. We hope that one of them works great for your next grilling adventure.
Types of Rotisserie Grill Kits
When it comes to rotisserie grill kits, there really aren’t a ton of options. Frankly, when you get right down to it, you’ve got two basic options. A rotisserie kit that is made specifically for your grill, or a universal kit.
There are pros and cons of both, but the biggest difference comes down to price. Universal rotisserie kits are generally quite a bit more affordable than rotisserie kits specific for your grill. It is important to point out that if you have a specialty grill, your only option may be directly from the manufacturer.
Components of a Rotisserie Grill Kit
The Spit: This is the metal rod that you will skewer through your foods, or hang a basket on. Look for stainless steel spits for easy cleaning and high durability. Also make sure your spit has a set of counter weights.
Prongs: Also called “forks” these are used to secure your meats to the spit. One prong or fork will go on each end of your meat, keeping it balanced, and from dangling into the fire.
Supporting Brackets: Your rotisserie kit will come with two sets of brackets. One for the motor and one for the open end of the spit. These are usually easy to install and most grills come with predrilled holes for the brackets.
Rotation mechanism: This is the motor. They come with two power sources, 120V standard power or battery operated. If you’re at home, we’d suggest the 120V standard power. It’s more reliable and gives more strength to the motor.
Advantages Rotisserie Grill Kits
The reason that most people invest in a rotisserie kit for their grill is for a different cooking experience. Rotisserie cooking allows meats to baste themselves. The slow turning and lower heat keeps juices locked inside the meat, creating a more flavorful and moist result.
They’re also good for grilling things like chicken, turkey, tenderloins and large roasts. And really, when you get down to it, rotisserie cooking doesn’t require the same amount of tending, so instead of hovering over your grill, you can enjoy your family and friends, and still have an amazing meal.
