If you’re looking for something a bit more versatile when it comes to ovens in your kitchen, or if a gas range just doesn’t work for your entertaining needs, then you’re probably ready to invest in a double wall oven.

A double wall oven gives you two separate spaces for baking, roasting and broiling. They are stacked vertically or side-by-side, and allow you to use each for a different part of your meal.

Never again worry about how you’ll have enough oven space for something as simple as Thanksgiving dinner. Not to mention those times when you’re entertaining a crowd.

With two ovens that work independently of each other you’ll have plenty of space for main dishes, side dishes and desserts, without the hassle of splitting cooking times or switching temperatures.

We did a bunch of research and testing and looked at a number of double wall ovens. The one that we like best is the GE JK3500SFSS Double Wall Oven

We like its modest price point, but it also looks great in any kitchen, has a variety of cooking options, and is easy to use. Even better, this great oven is intuitive to use, and is easy to clean, so you don’t have to worry about boil overs or messes.

Now, we know what we like, but how did we come to this conclusion, and how do you decide which oven is right for you? Well, we’ve also put together a list of features and a bit of a shopping guide, so that you can find the right product for your kitchen and culinary needs.

How to Choose A Perfect Wall Oven?

So perhaps our favorite picks aren’t yours. In that case, you’ll probably want a bit of guidance on how to choose the right wall ovens for your space. We’ve selected five of the features that we think make the most difference in the oven you select.

Size

Generally, you can’t just shove a double wall oven into your kitchen. You need to have a space for it prepared, or are replacing an existing double wall oven. Prior to shopping for your double oven, make sure you carefully measure the space where the oven will be installed. This will ensure a proper fit, and avoid frustrations if your oven turns out to be too big or too small.

Besides the space in your kitchen, you’ll want to consider the internal capacity of the ovens you select. Many double ovens have a roomy 5.1 cubic feet of space, which is more than enough to cook a couple of dishes at a time. However, bigger doesn’t always mean better, so do select ovens that will best fit your normal cooking needs.

Cooking Power

Having plenty of temperature range is important when it comes to selecting an oven. However, there are other cooking options you should look for.

Since most ovens will easily get to 500 º F, you’ll want to focus your attention on things like convection fans, broilers, temperature programmability, and dual temperature cooking. With today’s ovens, max temperature isn’t really the guiding feature for cooking power.

Features

Today’s ovens have tons of features that they just didn’t have just a few years ago. Some of the features that we really like are programmable cook timers, self-cleaning, easy to use touch screen controls, dish specific one-touch programs and mobile apps. Yep, that’s what we said, many of today’s ovens can be controlled from your smartphone.

Some basic features that have become more standard over the last few years are convection fans and drying/dehydrating options. And with the smart phone capability, you also get Wi-Fi connections and ovens that are even Alexa enabled.

Design

Your double oven is going to be a focal point in your kitchen, so it better look good. Traditional, silver, stainless steel is always a good, timeless option for just about any kitchen décor.

However, higher end double ovens may come in other stainless steel finishes, including custom colors like blue, black, bronze or even orange and red!

These newer hues in stainless steel are far more durable than the enamel and aluminum covered options of the past. Colored stainless steel is scratch resistant, and highly durable, so it will last a long time.

Other than color, your design options are limited, but there are a variety of handle styles and control panel styles that you can choose from, and should be considered if you want your new double oven to fit in your kitchen décor.

Price

As you’re shopping for your double oven, keep in mind that there are a full range of prices that you’ll be working in. Price doesn’t always equate to quality, but it can. Make sure that you fully understand what you’re getting for your money, and do check reviews of the products you’re considering.

GE has long been a leader in kitchen appliances, so there’s no surprise that our favorite double wall oven is from GE. This beautiful addition to your kitchen will provide you with plenty of cooking capacity, easy to use controls and handy features that you aren’t going to find on every oven on the market.

This double oven features 4.3 total cubic feet of cooking space. Plenty of room for your whole Thanksgiving dinner. Each oven has adjustable racks for large pots and pans, or multiple dishes.

Both ovens have an eight-pass broil element that allow you to perfectly brown your favorite treats. We also like the bread proof function available on these ovens. Never wonder if your space is warm enough for raising bread again. Frankly we think these ovens do a great job of the most simple tasks, like baking cookies or a frozen pizza.

If you aren’t sure if these GE ovens will fit in your existing space, check out their GE Fit feature. This handy option ensures that the GE double ovens that you select will fit perfectly in an existing space. Once fit is determined, you will love how these ovens complement a variety of decors. The simple, stainless steel is easy to clean, and creates a timeless look. And the digital control panel is intuitive to use, and yet, provides you plenty of options.

Wrapping up

We do love a quality product that not only looks great, but also works great. We think that the GE double wall oven is both attractive and functional. It is our favorite pick for good reason, and we think you’ll love it in your kitchen too.

2. Best Value - Empava 30 in Electric Double Wall Ovens

Pros

  • Clean design and multiple features.
  • Large capacity and powerful.
  • Comes with Sabbath mode.
  • Bargain priced.

Cons

  • Needs to be professionally installed.
  • Not as well-known of a company.

Many of the features of the Empava oven we’ve already found in our first few ovens. This convection double wall oven provides great temperature control for even heating and consistent cooking results.

Dual broiler functions allow you to brown without burning, and the one touch control panel is pre-programmed with standard cooking options for things like cookies, pizza and French fries. It also has a self-clean function and covered heating elements, so spills are easy to manage. The Sabbath mode and bread proof options are however, features that many other ovens don’t carry on their standard models.

Where we think that the Empava oven really shows its value, isn’t in its construction or features, but rather their standard warranty. You’ll find many of the same features on this oven, on others.

The Empava double wall oven is fairly priced, and it has a 2 year manufacturer’s warranty. This is double the industry standard, and really adds exceptional value to the Empava line of appliances.

3. Best Large - Frigidaire FGET3066UF 30" Double Electric Wall Oven with Convection

Pros

  • A ton of options and size for the price.
  • True Convection in both upper and lower ovens.
  • Quick preheat.
  • Easy to clean.

Cons

  • Not as many custom features.
Timer only works with one oven at a time.

The Frigidaire Gallery, 30 inch double wall oven is our pick for the most spacious double wall oven. Each oven has 5.1 cubic feet of cooking space, for a total of 10.2 cubic feet of capacity.

This is more than most standard ovens, and allows you to easily fit large roasting pans or multiple dishes in each oven, at a single time. This double wall oven is really the best option for the chef that does lots of entertaining.

This oven comes with Frigidaire True Convection technology which creates the perfect environment for baking and roasting. The convection technology is further improved thanks to quick preheat, and covered lower elements, that distribute heat more evenly through the cooking space.

We really like some of the convenience features of this oven. The oven rack handles allow you to easily remove or pull out racks. The smudge proof stainless steel exterior looks great, and almost hides fingerprints. Finally, the self-clean functions on this Frigidaire double wall oven is one of the best we’ve encountered. Not only is the high-heat cleaning cycle super-efficient, but it also comes with a delay clean option, so you can set the oven to clean when it’s most convenient for you.

4. Best Small Capacity - LG LWD3063BD Build-In Double Electric Wall Oven

Pros

  • Excellent heat distribution.
  • Large windows and blue interior.
  • Broiler pan is included.
  • Easy to clean with variable self-cleaning system.

Cons

  • Seems smaller than it is.
  • Black stainless scratches easier.

While LG is often known best for their electronics, they also make great kitchen appliances. This 30-inch, self-cleaning convection double oven is a great option for the homeowner that needs a smaller sized oven, without losing capacity.

This convection oven features LG’s SmoothTouch controls that make selecting the perfect oven settings, simple.

The 4.7 cubic foot capacity of each oven, gives you plenty of space for cooking a complete meal, and you’ll be pleased to show off your oven, with its beautiful blue interior. Like other convection ovens on our list, this one provides fast pre-heating and even heat distribution, for uniform cooking.

This convection oven also has two pre-set convection settings: convection bake and convection roast, which allow you to make perfectly cooked meats and beautiful baked goods.

The convenience features of this double wall oven that we think are great are the large viewing window on each oven, and the variable length, self-cleaning options that let you decide how deep of a cleaning your oven really needs.

5. Best Combo - Frigidaire 27" Electric Combination Wall Oven-Convection

Frigidaire FGMC2765PF

Pros

  • The convection temperatures offer consistent results.
  • It features easy-to-use one touch buttons.
  • Outstanding quick self-clean cycle.
  • Auto Oven Shut-Off feature.

Cons

  • Fan is a bit noisy.
  • It’s door is a tad challenging to open.

Convection cooking is one of the easiest ways to create perfect, evenly cooked foods in your oven. This Frigidaire convection oven and microwave combo is a nice alternative to the double wall oven. You might not need two full ovens, and if you have limited counter space, it’s nice to have your professionally furnished microwave hanging out of the way.

This oven/microwave combo has many features that we love. The 3.8 cubic foot oven is plenty big for even the largest Thanksgiving turkey. The one touch buttons allow you to program the oven for pizza, chicken nuggets and frozen dinners.

The 2.0 cubic foot microwave is a great alternative to a second oven. It also has plenty of capacity for larger dishes, and pre-set programs allows you to defrost, and cook a variety of foods, without a ton of effort.

The cabinet for this combo is fingerprint resistant stainless steel. It looks great, even when you’ve not had a ton of time to clean. It also has a great self clean option for the oven, so you don’t have to spend hours with icky chemicals to clean your oven. This great combo gives you a bit more versatility than you’ll find with just a double oven option.

6. Best Basic - GE JT3500EJES Electric Double Wall Oven

GE JT3500EJES

Pros

  • It’s affordable price.
  • Easy to use electronic touch controls.
  • Self-clean with Steam Clean option.

Cons

  • It’s color.
  • Only has 1 year warranty.

If you need a double oven, but don’t really want all the extra bells and whistles, then this basic double wall oven is a great option for you. It keeps things simple with conventional cooking, so you don’t need to think about convection conversions.

This electric oven features easy touch operation, and a clean digital display. The heating element is hidden, providing a more even distribution of heat throughout the ovens, and some added safety for your hands as well. And while some double ovens only allow you to broil from one oven, this double oven unit has broil capabilities in both ovens.

Even though this double wall oven from GE is at the lower end of the price range for double ovens, it doesn’t lack the convenience features that many other affordable appliances do. You still get the self-clean option and GE has even kept the steam clean option on this base model double oven, for chemical free, quick cleaning.

7. Best Convection - KitchenAid KODE500ESS Electric Double Wall Oven

Kitchen Aid KODE500ESS

Pros

  • Conducts heat evenly and efficiently.
  • It’s EasyConvect Conversion System.
  • Outstanding features.

Cons

  • Not as energy efficient.
  • Its self-cleaning feature needs improvement.

Convection cooking is a great way to create even heating throughout your oven cavity. This 30 inch double wall oven from KitchenAid is equipped with their Even-Heat True Convection technology. Convection technology allows for perfectly browned foods that are also cooked evenly all the way through. This oven has an attractive style and provides a whopping 10 cubic feet of cooking space. Each oven has 5.0 cubic feet of space, allowing for large roasting pans, or multiple casserole dishes.

The glass-touch display and control panel make running your oven simple. The control lock feature eliminates accidental changes in cooking temperatures. Fingerprints are not a worry on the control panel or the stainless steel housing. Both are easy to clean, and look great even when your kitchen is extra busy.

While exceptionally functional, this oven is also easy to maintain. The baking elements are covered under an easy clean panel. Drips and boil overs are simple to clean up, since there’s no element to work around. This KitchenAid double wall oven also features a high-heat, self-clean option on both ovens.

8. Best for Baking - Bosch HBL5551UC 500 30" Electric Double Wall Oven

Bosch HBL5551UC

Pros

  • It heats very evenly.
  • Outstanding baking element feature.
  • Self-cleans in 2 hours.

Cons

  • Can be louder than others.
  • The heavy-duty metal knobs instead of touch screen.

Bosch has long been known for its professional quality appliances that allow the amature chef to have commercial quality performance in their home. This double wall oven is no exception.

Heavy-duty metal control knobs give you exceptional heat control, that looks great. And while the knobs are more simple than the touch screen operation of other ovens on our list, this Bosch double oven isn’t lacking in technology.

Cook multiple dishes at different temperatures in each oven. And never worry if you’ll have enough space for that steak, pork cushion meat and huge Thanksgiving turkey. The 4.8 cubic foot capacity of each of these ovens, means you’ll have plenty of space for that big turkey.

Additional features of these ovens are the easy glide removable racks, and a quiet self-clean function. These ovens are perfect for the cook that wants plenty of control, a great looking product and professional quality materials.
